Frequently Asked Questions
If you don't see what you're looking for here, reach out to us.Use our Contact form, email the Box Office, or call 704-973-2828 (12-5 PM, Mon - Fri)
- + Does my baby/toddler need a ticket if they sit in my lap?
Everyone attending the show must have a ticket regardless of age. We don't generally recommend our shows for children younger than 3. If you do bring an infant or toddler and they become disruptive during the show, please ask an Usher to show you to our Quiet Room where you can still watch the show without disturbing the other audience members. We often offer programming specifically for preschool audiences.
- + What is your exchange or refund policy?
Exchange Policy
We understand that unavoidable schedule changes can make life hectic for busy families. That's why we're happy to offer you the ability to exchange your tickets for another performance of the same show. We are unable to offer exchanges or refunds for missed shows. To exchange tickets, please call the Box Office at 704-973-2828 (12-5 PM, Mon - Fri).
Subscriber Exchanges - Subscribers may exchange their tickets for no additional charge when requested at least 24 hours before their originally scheduled show and subject to the availability of the preferred show. Comparable seating is not guaranteed, but we'll do our best to place you in the best seats available.
Individual Exchanges - Non-subscribers may also exchange their tickets, for a nominal $2.00 per ticket plus sales tax, when requested at least 24 hours before the originally scheduled show and subject to the availability of the preferred show. There may be a price difference between your original show and you new show. Click here to request a ticket exchange.
Refund Policy
Children's Theatre of Charlotte tickets are non-refundable, but you may donate the value of your tickets as a tax-deductible contribution. We will provide you with a receipt for tax purposes. - + What if we are late to the show?
Late seating is at the discretion of the House Manager. You may be asked to wait until an appropriate moment in the show before being directed to your seats. To avoid disrupting the audience, you may not be seated in your original seats.
- + How do I know if my child is too young or too old for a show?
Each show has an age recommendation associated with it. If you have specific questions about a show's content contact us using one of the methods at the top of this page.
- + What happens if a show is canceled?
You will be notified via email if the show you have tickets for is canceled due to inclement weather or for any other reason. If you are unable to reschedule for another show, we will refund your ticket cost.
- + Do you offer free tickets for charity auctions or other fundraising events?
Children's Theatre of Charlotte provides ticket vouchers for qualified organizations to use in fundraising auctions, sweepstakes, etc, based on availability. For accounting purposes, we require a letter from the requesting organization explaining the event with pertinent information. In exchange we ask whenever possible that our brochures or other identifying information be provided at your event. If your request is approved, we will contact you when your voucher is ready to be picked up from our Box Office at ImaginOn. To apply click this link and choose "ticket donation request" from the "My question is regarding..." dropdown.
- + May I record the show or take photos/videos?
Due to contractual restrictions and for safety reasons, the use of cameras (including cell phone cameras) and video recorders is prohibited during our shows. We will often have promotional backdrops for shows in the lobby area, perfect to take a souvenir photo with your family.
- + Is there a dress code? What is appropriate to wear to a show?
We do not have a dress code; wear what's comfortable!
- + Do you sell concessions?
Because ImaginOn is home to both Children's Theatre of Charlotte and a children's library, we do not offer traditional concessions like many theatres. There are vending machines located on both levels, but food and drinks are not permitted in the theatres. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of ImaginOn, including many vendors in The Market at 7th Street right across the light rail track.
- + Can I rent the theatres or other spaces for private events?
Because of our year-round programming, the theatres at ImaginOn are not available for rental events. Other spaces may be available and would be booked through the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. Click here for more information.
- + Do you accept play script submissions?
Our seasons are planned out far in advance so it is unlikely that we will be able to produce an unpublished script. But you may send us your script for review by emailing it to Alicia Tafoya. Please use PDF format.
- + Do you host birthday parties?
Yes! Visit our Group Sales page to learn about bringing a group for a special occasion.
