Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is passionate about supporting the arts in our schools and community. Our Education department provides teachers with valuable resources in connecting our productions to your classroom, as well as offering support for arts integration across subject areas. Partner with us as we work together to strengthen the presence of the theatre arts in our schools and community!

In-School Residencies

Our teaching artists use theatre arts as an investigative tool to explore topics across subject areas. Working alongside the classroom teacher, we take your curricular goals and allow students to explore the content with their voice, body and imagination. With short- and long-term models available, our residencies are aligned with North Carolina Essential Standards and Common Core State Standards. Choose from a selection of residencies or work with us to design your own by contacting Michelle Long , Director of Education. See below for a list of our current partner organizations.

Young Playwrights for Change

Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is excited to be a regional host for Young Playwrights for Change. Theatre for Young Audiences/USA (TYA/USA) and the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) launched this nationwide ten-minute playwrighting contest for middle school students (6th - 8th Grade) to give a voice to our nation’s young writers. Our goal is to spark conversation and discussion throughout classrooms, schools and communities about each year’s chosen topic.
