Jump into exploring theatre in a fun, informal way! All programs align with North Carolina Essential Standards and Common Core State Standards. Residencies offer longer-term experiences while Workshops offer single-day experiences - and both offer ready-made and customizable solutions. All options are designed to build a safe, positive environment for exploring creativity and confidence. Opportunities exist for PreK through 12th Grade.

AGES 3-5

Story Solvers

Each week, students explore a new book through play. This class focuses on building confidence, team work, and creative problem solving. This program can be designed to match your classroom focus of the week.
Length: 1hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

Wiggles and Giggles

It is time to get those wiggles out! Each week, students will move their bodies and sing songs with one of our Teaching Artists. This class focuses on movement, confidence, and listening skills. This program can be designed to match your classroom focus of the week.
Length: 1hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Summer Stars - A Summer Residency Program

Our Summer Stars program invites children to explore theatre through creative exercises, songs, and imaginative play. This program is the perfect arts enrichment addition to your summer programming.
Length: 1hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

Center Stage

Each week, students will explore a new element of storytelling from ensemble, to movement, to voice, and beyond. Students will learn to develop characters and create their own stories. The final class will be an invited sharing of the stories the students have created.
Length: 1hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

Rising Stars

Students integrate the tools of the voice, body, and imagination into song. Students will develop a beginning understanding of vocal technique and musicality, and bring this knowledge to musical theatre works from the stage.
Length: 1hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL

Theatre Lab

In this course, students will explore the actor’s toolkit through games and improvised and scripted works. Students are introduced to the acting basics with a strong focus on ensemble work.
Length: 1.5hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

Musical Theatre Lab

In this course, students will integrate singing, dancing, and acting skills to grow as musical theatre performers with a strong emphasis on acting through song. 
Length: 1.5hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

Improvisation

Focusing on teamwork and listening skills, students will build their improvisational acting skills through fun exercises that will get them on their feet and working together.
Length: 1.5hr/week, minimum 5 weeks

New Works

Students will work as a team to create their own one-act play with leadership from one of our Teaching Artists. From brainstorming to final showcase, your students will experience every aspect of creating an original work. The final class will be an invited sharing of the one-act play the students have created.
Length: Minimum 20 hours of class time

K-12

Play Production Support

Looking for help with your school show? We can provide directing and choreography support for your play or musical! Please note, this option is only available to schools with production support (in-school or parent volunteers). We do not provide technical support (i.e. scenic, props, costumes, sound, etc.). Workshops

All workshops can be modified to fit your needs regarding length and timeline. Please contact [email protected] with any questions. Bundle and Save! Bundle three workshops for a discount.

Audition Workshop

Students will have the opportunity to workshop an upcoming audition monologue or song with one of our Teaching Artists. For music, students must provide a track to sing with. We will not provide an accompanist.
For Middle School & High School | Length: 1hr/5 students

Poetry Out Loud

Do your students need some additional guidance for their Poetry Out Loud submission? Have one of our Teaching Artists work with them on their stage presence and storytelling skills. 
For High School | Length: 1hr/5 students

Theatre Sports

Develop teamwork, creativity, and confidence in a positive, high energy atmosphere where your students can express themselves while building these important life skills. Theatre Sports is an hour of fun where students rotate through three skill blocks each led by a talented Teaching Artist. Have a specific skill you are working on in class? We are happy to work with you to personalize your experience to work best for your students.

Kindness Connection

Kindness is at the heart of all we do here at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte. Our Teaching Artists will guide your class through games and activities designed to exercise your students’ kindness muscles and encourage them to find ways to be kind every day.
