About The Winter Wonderland Shop
For more than five decades, Santa's Bag—later known as The Winter Wonderland Shop—has been a cherished holiday tradition at Children's Theatre of Charlotte. Since its beginning in the late 1960s, this beloved event has brought joy to countless families, providing an opportunity for children and parents to shop together for affordable, pre-wrapped gifts while creating lasting holiday memories.
The magic of this tradition has always been about more than just shopping—it's been about fostering kindness, generosity, and the spirit of giving within our community. Over the years, thousands of families have experienced the wonder of selecting special gifts for their loved ones in our festive, welcoming environment.
After thoughtful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to sunset The Winter Wonderland Shop at ImaginOn. Two of the main contributing factors are escalating merchandise costs and increased demand for internal staffing and resources. While this marks the end of an era for this treasured in-house tradition, we want our community to know how deeply grateful we are for the memories created and the joy shared over these many years.
We understand this news may be disappointing to families who have made this experience a part of their annual holiday tradition. Please know that this decision was not made lightly, and we are continually exploring new ways to create meaningful experiences for the children and families we serve.
